Ceramic Making Workshop in Matanzas

FOR EXPERIENCED CERAMISTS

January 7 - 13, 2018

Limited to 6 participants

Registration Deadline - September 1, 2017

This ceramic workshop is designed by CubArtEdu and the “Lolo” Gallery-Studio in the City of Matanzas, Cuba for artists capable of working independently with clay. It requires an intermediate-advanced level of technical skill in processing and decorating hand built ceramic pieces. This is an educational people-to-people workshop and as such is an exchange of ideas among facilitators of the workshop and participants to refine skills, master ceramic materials, techniques and processes in order to create an original and personal expression in clay. Majolica glazes and Raku firing will be used in the workshop. In addition to the workshop experience the group will visit several sites with artist and Program Leader Marcos Carvajal who will travel with the group and serve as guide when visiting Old Havana, the University of the Arts (ISA), the 2018 Ceramic Biennale of Havana, the Coincidencia Farm Ceramic Workshop and the Varadero Ceramic Workshop.
