International Dance Festival of Havana - City in Motion 2018

Our trip will start with a conference about contemporary dance in Cuba.  After the conference we will be ready for a walking tour of the main plazas in Old Havana. Once we set the context for the City in Motion Festival we will participate in four days of programmed activities. Danza-Teatro Retazos Company, directed by Isabel Bustos, is the organizer of the festival with participants that include dancers, choreographers, musicians and painters from all over the world. City in Motion started in 1996 in the Historical Center of Havana “to draw inspiration from the city’s architecture, to awaken the imagination, to promote new creative environments and to encourage the exchange of ideas and artistic experiences between the people of different languages and cultures”.  (lahabana.com)

Itinerary

Our program will start at a hotel near Tampa Airport. That evening we will meet for an orientation at the hotel.

DAY 1

Our flight from Tampa to Havana, Cuba will take 50 minutes.  As soon as we get to our AC bus we will be on our way to accommodations at a hotel in Havana. This evening we will meet for a welcome dinner.

DAY 2

Our first day in Havana will start with a buffet breakfast at the hotel (all breakfasts are included).

Founded in 1519, UNESCO declared Old Havana Universal Patrimony of Humanity. Through a guided walking tour, you will learn about Old Havana as a unique urban sustainable development project that integrates community and economic development with art. During this walking tour we will visit Arms, San Francisco and Old Plazas.
